Dermot O’Kane is a chartered town planner and joined Belfast City Council from the former Department of the Environment in April 2015. Dermot has a lead role for bringing forward the city’s new Local Development Plan. He has a wide range of experience in development management and more recently policy development. Dermot has a comprehensive understanding of all stages of the planning process and in-depth knowledge of the realities of policy development for Northern Ireland’s largest council and the region’s economic driver. He brings a focused and passionate leadership style with strong emphasis on team working and communication. Dermot has recently led an extensive consultation exercise with key stakeholders on the draft Plan Strategy for the new LDP in advance of its Examination in Public.
