Andy Brown

Flood Risk Manager - Strategic Overview, Environment Agency

Andy Brown has been working for the Environment Agency for 21 years, and since 2011 this has been focused on flood risk management. Up until recently he was Flood Risk Manager for Cumbria & Lancashire, which since winter 2015 has meant he has been the focal point for the response to those major floods – both in terms of delivering an enhanced capital programme – but also the Cumbria Flood Action including catchment working and natural flood management in the context of a hugely expanded flood partnership. All of this work has been highly political locally and nationally and through this and other work Andy has strong relationships nationally and locally both internally and external of the Environment Agency.

He now leads the Agency’s national Strategic Overview team which is focusing on shaping and advising policy development on topics such as climate change, strategic planning of FRM; Spatial Planning. Andy is also closely involved in the work to develop a new FCERM Strategy for England.
