Chris has worked in the construction industry for 44 years, of which 40 years he has worked on a wide range of research, development and application projects at Building Research Establishment (BRE).

Over the last 33 years Chris has had a leading role in the UK’s radon programme, developing radon protective measures and regulatory guidance for new buildings and remedial measures for existing buildings. As a result Chris has published extensively on the subject of radon.

Chris has worked closely with Public Health England and their predecessors in devising, developing and delivering their successful public awareness raising activities and guidance associated with radon.

He has provided technical input, advice and guidance to national and international committees, governmental agencies and professionals in more than 20 countries.

16 years ago Chris initiated the first UK National Radon Forum here at BRE under the European Radon Research and Industry Collaboration Concerted Action (ERRICCA).

Throughout Chris has tried to adopt a pragmatic approach to radon aimed at developing and delivering simple, reassuring and cost-effective solutions.
