Anka Asandei
Dr Asandei joined Slough Borough Council in 2015 as the Senior Scientific Officer. Her responsibilities include dealing with the planning application, where she is consulted on Contaminated Land issues. Anka is also responsible for the Environmental Permits and Petroleum Storage Certificates in the borough. Besides the main responsibilities dealing with consultations, Anka gets to visit the borough and inspect their permitted site and check whether they are compliant with the environmental permits, Anka also project manages a former landfill site still under permit, and subjects to a monthly monitoring regime.
Previously, she completed her PhD in Soil Science at the University of Exeter, where she researched the effects of climate change/global warming on the soil carbon stores. Her main focus was on the interactions of nutrient availability and warming in controlling the soil carbon dynamics, with regards to the fate of already sequestered carbon in the soil, under conditions of increasing atmospheric temperatures.
