Steve Thorpe
Geospatial Data Specialist, British Geological Survey
Steve is an experienced geoscientist and 3D geological modeller with 13 years’ experience at the British Geological Survey, working with geological data, borehole information, 3D modelling and visualisation software. With an ethos of encouraging sharing of data he is working closely with stakeholders to encourage the sharing of data via initiatives such as the Dig-To-Share project, aimed at improving links between industry and BGS in the sharing and dissemination of subsurface data. The ultimate goal is to better embed geology in the GI/SI and other planning processes. Steve also manages the BGS Onshore Shallow Drilling Facility enjoying as much fieldwork as possible, is a Lego enthusiast and a general data tinkerer on all levels.
