Hannah Tankard

Campaign Manager, Business in the Community

Hannah Tankard is a campaign manager at Business in the Community (BITC). Hannah's background is in preventing disasters, specifically flooding. Hannah's current focus areas are two-fold: how to support small businesses to be better prepared for extreme weather events and how large businesses can support emergency response and recovery across the UK. Hannah has an MA in Disasters, Adaptation and Development and has long been interested in how to mitigate the impacts of hazards and threats on communities, especially for those most vulnerable in society.

BITC is the oldest and largest business-led membership organisation dedicated to responsible business. BITC inspires, engages and challenges its members and mobilises that collective strength as a force for good in society to:

  • Create a skilled, inclusive workforce today and for the future
  • Build thriving communities in which to live and work
  • Innovate to repair and sustain our planet

One of BITC's visions, through the Business Emergency Resilience Group, is that: small businesses and the communities they support are better equipped to prepare for, respond to and recover from key risks, such as extreme weather events, cyber attacks and pandemics.
