Technical Director – Ecology and Arboriculture, CoP Lead – Natural Capital, Arcadis

Martina is a Chartered Ecologist working in biodiversity and ecosystems for over 25 years in academia and in consultancy. She is a Technical Director for Ecology and Arboriculture and is leading the community of practice for natural capital within Arcadis.

Martina was a contributing author for the Natural Capital Protocol (NCC 2016) and the UK Biodiversity Net Gain Principles (CIEEM, IEMA, CIRIA 2016). She has contributed to several guidance documents to maximise the multifunctional benefits of green infrastructure, make material the risk and opportunities surrounding the natural environment and to encourage uptake of natural design solutions. She a member of CIRIA’s Biodiversity Interest Group and the Natural Capital Taskforce for the Environmental Industries Commission which allows her to share and gain insights into the implementation of the natural capital approach to deliver environmental net gain.  Her role within Arcadis is to promote the embedding of the natural capital approach within projects, for clients and different technical disciplines. In Arcadis we believe that biodiversity and business can co-exist to deliver environmental net gain equitably, improving quality of life for all.
