Michael Moore

Environmental Health Senior Officer, Public Protection, Rochdale Metropolitan Borough Council

Michael graduated from the University of Plymouth in the early 1990’s in Environmental Geology, worked for several years with various consultancies and local authorities including Hyder Consulting and DG Environmental in contaminated land undertaking desk studies, intrusive investigations and necessary report writing.  Michael then went to the University of Bolton and completed a postgraduate diploma in Environmental Geotechnology with a view of entering the public sector as Part 2A of the 1990 Environmental Protection Act was about to become into force. Michael has worked for various Local Authorities since 2001, mainly in contaminated land regulation although also undertook roles involving Noise enforcement and more recently in Air Quality.

Michael has been involved in a number of contaminated land investigations and determinations, of former landfills and allotments and has been successful in obtaining public funding for remediation of the said sites, when funding was available.  A key part of these projects was developing communication strategies with the public and the media in conjunction with the media section within the authority.
