Brownfield and Contaminated Land, Belfast

Brian McVeigh is a Senior Scientific Officer at the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) where he works in the Land and Groundwater team within the Regulation Unit. He has a BSc in Geography and a MSc in Environmental Planning both from Queens University, Belfast and has over 13 years experience in waste management regulation and enforcement and the risk management of contaminated land and groundwater. Brian previously worked in the Environment Agency between 2011 and 2018 covering waste regulation, land and groundwater remediation, environmental incident response and environmental enforcement within the Kent, South London and East Sussex area. Brian obtained a Practising Environmental Regulator qualification with the Environment Agency in 2016. Working with NIEA since February 2018 Brian now provides technical expertise as a regulator for groundwater contamination and waste management issues in Northern Ireland.
