Strategic Flood Risk Planning Advisor, Environment Agency

Laura Kitson works for the Environment Agency, as a Strategic Flood Risk Planning Advisor. She works alongside local authorities and growth and development partners to ensure that flood risk management infrastructure is planned and delivered at a strategic scale.

Laura has a background in advising on and co-ordinating environmental projects and policy, with a strong interest in partnership working and collaboration. She has worked for local authorities, green infrastructure partnerships and government agencies. She is a Chartered Environmentalist, and has led RTPI and Landscape Institute award winning design guidance projects.

From this background in environmental policy and advocacy, Laura is working across the River Great Ouse catchment, from Milton Keynes, Bedfordshire and Cambridgeshire, and through the Fens to the Wash, ensuring that flood risk infrastructure is considered as enabling infrastructure, planned at a catchment scale, and is integrated into development proposals to have a positive impact on flood risk reduction in this fast growing area.
