Technical Director (Asbestos), Hydrock

With over 11 years’ experience in the asbestos industry, James is a BOHS qualified asbestos surveyor and laboratory analyst.  As one of Hydrock’s Technical Directors, James is responsible for assessing the impacts of existing asbestos contamination on both large and small scale developments and designing resource efficient asbestos in soils remediation schemes. James has worked exclusively in the field of asbestos in soils since 2010, providing technical advice, remediation design specifications and remediation methodologies for various clients.  He has gained considerable experience working on both small and large scale asbestos in soils projects throughout the UK, including providing support to clients such as EDF Energy, Carillion, VolkerFitzpatrick and Crossrail.

James’s work requires him to liaising directly with Environmental Health Officers and the Health and Safety Executive to agree reasoned and practical solution to problematic site including sensitive Part 2A projects and residential developments.  With this knowledge and experience, James has contributed significantly to the development of current legislative protocols and best practice documentation, including assisting in the development CIRIA’s Asbestos series of publications and the JIWG’s CAR-SOILS™.   His significant experience in the asbestos contaminated land industry is reflected in his being invited to speak at leading industry conferences run by CIRIA, Brownfield Briefing, SiLC and Environmental protection UK on the subject of managing asbestos in soil.
