Steve Forster
Steve has 30 year's experience in all aspects of the investigation, assessment and management of asbestos and contaminated land in various roles. He is Chair of the Joint Industry Working Group on Asbestos in Soil and Construction & Demolition Material, with responsibility for leading a broad cross-sectoral initiative to promote and guide the development and implementation of UK non-statutory industry guidance for the investigation, analysis, assessment, remediation and management of asbestos in soils.
Steve authored definitive industry guidance interpreting the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 for application in the assessment of land contaminated by asbestos – CAR-SOIL – (CL:AIRE, 2016), developed in conjunction with the Health
& Safety Executive, and is co-author and editor of the JIWGs ‘Asbestos in Soil Code of Practice’ (CL:AIRE, 2017, in prep).
On behalf of CL:AIRE, Steve has developed, and delivers as Lead Trainer, a range of training courses for workers who may disturb asbestos in the ground, including Asbestos Awareness and Non-Licensed Work.
He was awarded the Independent Asbestos Training Providers Industry Contribution Award 2014 in recognition of his work and efforts within the contaminated land sector of the asbestos Industry.
