Theresa Kearney

Principal Scientific Officer, Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA)

Theresa Kearney is a Principal Scientific Officer at the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) where she leads and manages the Land and Groundwater team. She has over 17 years experience in the risk management of contaminated land and groundwater working on regulatory policy and processes, research and technology developments in additional to dealing with a variety of site specific operational matters. Theresa previously worked in the Environment Agency’s National Groundwater and Contaminated Land Centre, in Solihull and in the Research and Technology Group within British Nuclear Fuels.   

Theresa has managed the delivery of a number of technical projects including the development and publication of the Model Procedures for the Management of Contaminated Land (CLR11). She is a member of the UK Land Forum and CL:AIRE’s Technical Research Group.
