Investment in sustainable infrastructure provides an opportunity to support green and inclusive communities. It is hard to find anyone to disagree with the principle that infrastructure should work for everyone, and that care should be taken to maximise social impacts and reduce harms.

    Nina Schuler is a technical director in AECOM’s growing carbon and ESG advisory practice, providing strategic leadership in helping clients develop and manage their responses to climate change in a way that supports positive social outcomes. Nina’s expertise includes responsible and inclusive business, local economic development, urban climate adaptation and resilience, climate finance and guiding clients in developing and using frameworks to strengthen decision making. Nina is also on the board of ISEAL, a membership forum which supports ambitious sustainability systems and collaborates with organisations and governments to tackle the world’s most pressing challenges, from defining good practice in sustainability reporting, to responding to the client emergency and accelerating human rights.

    Laura Walker Associate Director, Equality and Social Impact @ AECOM

    Laura leads AECOM’s equality and social impact team, providing comprehensive assessments of major infrastructure projects and transport, regeneration and environmental policies and plans. With over 20 years’ experience, Laura is a specialist in equalities impact assessment (EqIA) and social impact assessment, supporting clients with understanding and embedding social value strategy and measurement into infrastructure projects for both public and private sectors. Laura is passionate about developing thorough and meaningful approaches to measuring social impact and creating actions to reduce inequalities and deliver positive outcomes for society.
