MEET THE SPEAKERS
Roxana Bekemohammadi is a renowned leader in the hydrogen and fuel cell industry, recognized for her expertise in policy advocacy, public service, and technology commercialization. She founded the Western States Hydrogen Alliance in 2020, which expanded to the United States Hydrogen Alliance (USHA) after the Bipartisan Infrastructure Act in 2021. Under her leadership, USHA has influenced sixteen hydrogen state bills nationwide. Previously, Roxana led a hydrogen policy lobbying firm in California and worked at the California Air Resources Board. She holds a Master's in Environmental Engineering from UC Irvine and a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering from UCLA, enhancing her role as a clean energy industry expert.

Brian McCarthy is a global business leader with responsibility for WSP’s United States hydrogen market growth. Prior to his role at WSP, Brian led a low carbon process-technology business with a portfolio which included hydrogen, synthetic natural gas, and emerging plastics recycling technologies. Brian has been active in strategic partnering including for delivery of renewable fuel projects. He has held responsibility in new market strategy conceptualization, implementation, and project delivery. He is a graduate of Rutgers School of Engineering and the University of North Carolina’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.

David helps people and organisations in the energy industry navigate the transition to a low carbon future. He currently works for Cadent, the largest gas pipeline company in the UK, helping work out how to get us all off natural gas and identifying where and how much low carbon hydrogen might play a role in the energy transition. Prior to that he’s held senior roles across the energy sector, including running regulation for the UK’s district heating sector and as Director, Group Strategy at Centrica.

Dr Rebecca Maserumule is a Chief Science and Technology Representative at the National Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) in South Africa. Her responsibilities include fostering international partnerships to support the successful implementation of the Hydrogen Society Roadmap and the Vaccine Innovation and Manufacturing Strategy.
Dr Rebecca Maserumule is currently the Chairperson of the International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells in the Economy (IPHE). IPHE, formed in 2003, is an international governmental partnership currently consisting of 23 member countries, and the European Commission with a mission to facilitate and accelerate the transition to clean and efficient energy and mobility systems using hydrogen and fuel cell technologies across application and sectors. IPHE also informs broad stakeholder groups, including policymakers and the public, on the benefits and challenges to establishing widespread commercial hydrogen and fuel cell technologies in the economy.
Bill Tumas is the Associate Laboratory Director for Materials, Chemical and Computational Science at NREL where he oversees programs in solar, hydrogen, fuel cells, basic energy sciences, energy storage, and advanced computing. He has been actively engaged in collaborative research and technical leadership for over 30 years. He received a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from Stanford and did postdoctoral research at Caltech. Prior to NREL he worked at Los Alamos National Laboratory and Dupont. His research includes materials discovery, solar energy conversion, catalysis, and green chemistry. He has 12 patents, over 65 publications and 125 invited presentations.

Joe has 20+ years’ experience across strategy, capital raising & executive leadership including as a Client Executive at J.P.Morgan’s investment bank, Chief Investment Officer of a $17bn fund of energy, mining, infrastructure & industrial assets and as CEO, Cofounder and major shareholder of a FinTech backed by J.P.Morgan, Goldman Sachs and Barclays that was sold in 2021. Currently Joe is CEO of EET Hydrogen, one of the largest and most advanced low carbon hydrogen production projects in the world.

Anne joined the Aquaterra Energy team in 2022 as our Renewables Director to lead and grow the renewable energy arm of our business. She is responsible for the evolution of our energy transition division, focusing on CCS, Offshore Wind and Offshore Renewable Hydrogen development. Passionate about Energy Transition, she is heavily involved in international clean energy infrastructure projects, and engages with trade associations, Special Interest Groups, and Governmental bodies.
In 2023, Anne was appointed Chair of the Industry Advisory Group (IAG) to the Hydrogen East Cluster to help drive the cluster’s ambition to build an accelerated hydrogen industry in the region.
She brings over 25 years of experience across multiple energy sector segments such as Engineering services, Operations and Maintenance, BD, and Commercial and has as a Masters in Financial Economics and has worked within major corporates and SMEs within the clean energy sector.

She has led the Association and its predecessor for more than 15 years, and has been instrumental in its growth to be the leading pan-UK hydrogen grouping. Other hydrogen work has included managing hydrogen activities within the UK Knowledge Transfer Network for more than five years and contributing to a number of reports for the US Electric Power Research Institute. Celia’s earlier career included roles with the Centre for Exploitation of Science and Technology and Mott MacDonald. Celia has an MBA, an MSc in Environmental Technology and a BSc in Geophysics.
